Another question about being published :)

Out of curiousity, when you get picked by a publisher. Do they usually "buy your book" or "hire you" - I'm curious how this works and lol surprised I haven't thought before to ask. Its a good piece of information to know. thanks : )

Jennifer, it depends entirely on the publisher. Some give you an advance, others pay only roylaties on copies sold.

The norm is to pay royalties, which is a percentage of the net sales. Sometimes an advance is paid toward these royalties.
