I usually start out with a general idea and two characters. The rest of the story writes itself.

Hi Victoria, I feel the same way---if I'm going to plot it, I might as well just start WRITING the darned thing! For Stuck-In-The-Middle-Itis... by this point, I generally (not always) have at least a vague idea where I want to go, how the novel s…

Favorite western author? Julie Garwood. Love her Roses trilogy that goes with For the Roses and Come the Spring. For the Roses was turned into a movie (Rose Hill) and the story was just butchered. I couldn't watch it---although I tried--- it was abs…

Hi Laura,
I see Nora is one of your favorites. She's my cousin and lives near me in Maryland. I don't know how close the state of confusion and befuddlement is to MD, but she has book signings at her store in Keedysville that are a blast. If you ever get down that way, you should plan to visit Turn the Page Bookstore.

Hi Laura,

I know everyone else already said it, but I have to tell you too. I love your picture. It is definitely me in the morning... minus the curlers because I'm way too lazy to do curlers! LOL!

Glad you joined us!

Hugs!

G'mornin' everyone!

Thanks for the welcome! Am going to enjoy this site muchly.

Lessee... Karen, I DO know what a girl is--I have 2 nieces--and last year, when I was back home due to a death in the family, I took my youngest niece out for some spoiling. . I tried to get her to pick just 1 of the 2 cute dresses we'd found for her, and she said to me, "Aunt Laura, I can't choose. I guess we'll just hafta get them both." Yes. Aunt Laura DID fall for that. Sister (mother of niece) didn't find her daughter's comment nearly as funny as I did until I said to her, "If buying her both were a problem, I'd've insisted. It's fine. She's fine. We had fun."

For a blatant plug: if you like my picture of self here, check it out on my blog: http://laurahamby.blogspot.com --it's animated! (You'll have to scroll down.)

I write contemporary romance--both sweet and er, not-so-sweet (not erotic, either). I have one published historical to my name, too. I love to read Nora Roberts, paranormal romances, historicals, contemporary romances...
Tell us a little about you:
In between raising 4 boys (1 husband, 3 children) and try to keep up with the daily household chores, I escape from it all by writing romances, reading romances (and Anne McCaffrey's Dragon Rider of Pern series), IMing with my friends and snarfing chocolate.

USA
What state or province do you live in:
The State of Confusion and Befuddlement ;)
